The ICFAI University, Sikkim was established under Section 4(2) of The ICFAI University, Sikkim Act, 2004 (Act 9 of 2004), passed by the Legislative Assembly of Sikkim. It was officially notified through Notification No. 9/LD/2004 dated 15th October 2004. The University is recognized under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956 and is empowered to award degrees under Section 22 of the same Act.
