BTTM Program

The Bachelor of Travel and Tourism Management (BTTM) Program provides insight into the tourism and travel industry and prepares students for a career in this fast growing field. It gives them the necessary skills, knowledge and exposure to the management and organization involved in providing products and services in this industry.

Pass in 10+2 with aggregate marks 50% and above (any discipline).
Final year students awaiting results can also apply.

Program Structure

The BTTM program consists of 34 courses covered in 7 semesters spread across 4 years. Students are additionally required to do two summer internships at the end of Year 1 and Year II respectively and one Industrial Training in the 8th semester.
Students are also exposed to discipline specific elective courses in their respective field of specialization. The actual offering of electives will however, depend on optimal number of students opting for the same.

The admission modalities are with reference to the full time campus programs offered by the ICFAI University, Sikkim. The medium of instruction is English. All applicants who meet the eligibility criteria specified for the course and have studied in English medium in their qualifying examination are eligible to apply.

Pass in 10+2 (any discipline) with aggregate marks 50% and above.

Final year students awaiting results can also apply. Their admission will be provisional, subject to qualifying in the final examination. The registration and admission of these applicants is liable to be cancelled in case they do not fulfill the eligibility criteria specified for admission to each program by September 15, 2018. In such cases, admission fee will be forfeited and only 50% of the semester fee will be refunded after notifying the cancellation of the seat by the University.

Selection Procedure

The selection of applicants into the UG/PG programs of the University is subject to fulfilment of the eligibility criteria made through screening of the applications. Due weightage is given to academic distinction, honors and awards in sports, cultural events, extra-curricular activities viz debates, quizzes and adventure sports. All applicants meeting the selection criteria will be given a provisional admission subject to verification of the documents at the time of registration and payment of fees.

All applicants having received the provisional admissions are required to present themselves with Original academic/other certificates and residence proof/HRDD Govt of Sikkim allotment letters in case seeking fee concessions, for verification along with semester and other fees on the date of Registration. In addition, photocopies are also required to be submitted for retention in their record with the University. Original certificates will be returned after verification.

Special Reservation:
There shall be a special provision for admission of applicants belonging to the State of Sikkim in any course of the ICFAI University, Sikkim, which shall not be less than 25 (twenty-five) per cent of seats in each course/discipline subject to the applicants meeting the minimum qualifying requirements referred below. Seats remaining unfilled under special reservation may be filled up by allotting the same to applicants belonging to Open Category. The Government Quota students will be given a fee concession of 50% on program fees. In addition to the Government quota, seats will be reserved with fee concession for applicants from the state of Sikkim, GTA area and the nearby North Bengal region as per the mandate of the University to serve the educational needs of the state of Sikkim and the nearby areas.

Late Admission Facility:
There is a limited window for applicants who miss the regular admission deadline due to reasons beyond control. Such applicants can directly come with admission documents with admission and semester fees as applicable to their program and seek admission as walk in applicants till August 10, 2018.

Commencement of Classes:
The classes for the Academic year 2018 will commence from July 25, 2018.

Award of Degree:
Students successfully completing the program are awarded degree in their respective discipline by the University, in accordance with the University rules.

Anti-ragging & Anti-sexual Harassment:
The ICFAI University provides a ragging free campus. The University follows the UGC guidelines and norms regarding the anti-ragging and anti-sexual harassment policies. The students are required to submit the duly signed affidavit for Anti-ragging at the time of admission to the University.


Guidelines on How to Complete the Application Form

The applicants are advised to read the guidelines carefully before completing the Application Form for Admission.

Application Cum Enrolment Form

  1. Please make sure that you meet the eligibility criteria before filling up the Application Form.
  2. Fill the Application Form in CAPITAL LETTERS.
  3. Please provide all available and correct information in appropriate sections.
  4. Make sure to sign the Application Form.
  5. Retain a photo copy of the Application Form along with documents stipulated.
  6. Demand Draft for Rs. 3000/Rs.5000 as applicable for the program applied for, towards admission fee drawn in favor of The ICFAI University, Sikkim-Fee Collection A/c payable at Gnagtok.

Attested Copies of Certificates

Applicants are required to submit self-attested copies of the following certificates at the time of registration with originals for verification:

  • Birth Certificate / Class X Certificate
  • Marksheets of Class XII / Degree Certificates (as may be applicable)
  • Fees concession (if applicable) requisite documents to be attached.
  • Nationality Certificate/Proof, for foreign students only
  • Other certificates pertaining to academic and extra curricular activities.

Admission Fee:

Admission Fee of Rs. 3,000 for BTTM, Program is to be paid by all the applicants along with the application. Admission fee of applicants, whose admission is not accepted will be refunded after completion of admission process.

Exam Fee: All the students need to pay an amount of Rs. 1,500 per semester for UG program towards Exam Fee along with the Program Fee.

Caution Deposit: All students are required to pay a Caution Deposit of Rs. 5,000 along with the First Semester Fee. The Caution Deposit will be refunded without interest and after adjusting for dues, if any, to the students on completion of the Program.

Program Fee: Students have to pay the fee at the beginning of each semester, as per the due dates which will be notified separately at the relevant time.

The ICFAI University, Sikkim is an equal opportunity institution. However, limited seats will be available for SC/ST/OBC students with relaxation in the eligibility criteria as per the Govt. norms where ever applicable.

** Fee Concessions: A limited number of seats are reserved for fee concession to students coming from the University catchment areas on first come first served basis.

  • 50% fee concession to the students coming from Sikkim Government Quota.
  • 40% fee concession to the students to Sikkim & GTA residents.
  • 25% fee concession to the students to North Bengal residents.

(Fee concessions shall be applicable only after due verification of the documents/residential proof)

Remittance: All payments should be made by way of demand draft or banker's cheque drawn in favor of "The ICFAI University, Sikkim - Fee Collection A/c" payable at Gangtok, Sikkim. Merit Scholarships: The ICFAI University Sikkim offers merit scholarships to students pursuing the UG & PG Programs. The scholarships are based on performance in Class XII (or equivalent)/ Graduation (or equivalent) and Semester-wise performance during the Program.

A. Merit Scholarships based on past academic record: Percentage of marks achieved in qualifying examination (10+2 or its equivalent) will decide the amount of scholarship. Scholarship will continue semester after semester only on maintaining the minimum 7.0 GPA. The details are as presented in the following table.

Note : Eligible students need to apply for the scholarship by September 15, 2018 in a prescribed format.

B. Merit Scholarships based on Semester-wise Performance: Up to 10% of the students of the batch will be awarded merit scholarships based on their Semester-wise performance (Details presented in the table given below). These scholarships are offered in addition to the scholarships based on the past academic record.
